Day 65

It was very nice progressed day today. We nailed 3 posts that will be the posts under the floor to the metal piece we attached on concrete. To keep it plumbed we hammered stakes and braced them. We cut them with skill saw. We mistook the height several times, as always. Good job. It was neater than I imagined. Then Nailed two 2x8 together and made about 19' beam. We should've use coated nails we bought the other day, since these are treated lumber. But we didn't.... Hopefully it doesn't effect like they say. Then attached it on the brackets on top of the posts. The beam looks nice and straight, but it bowed up in the middle. So I sat down there with water bucket, and Bob pushed it down, and nail it! Then we put 2x8 on both side. These are connected with beam by few nails in area of few inches. It worries us. So eventually we will put leftover hurricane strap, or do something.

今日はなかなか作業がうまく進んだ。まず柱を３本コンクリートの上に取り付けた固定用の金属と固定させる。この柱は床の下に隠れる。垂直に保つために地面に杭を打ち付け、固定させる。その後いつも通り何度か間違えたあと、なんとか丸鋸で欲しい高さに切れた。どうなるか、と思っていたがなかなかきれいに切れた。２x８を２枚あわせた19 フィートのビームを作る。化学処理をされた木材を使っているので、この間買ったメッキのされた釘を使う予定やったのに、忘れて普通の釘を使ってしまった。言われてるように釘が腐食されませんように。その後ビームを柱の上に取り付けた別の固定用の金属に固定する。まっすぐに見えたビームは実は真ん中で上がっていた。私は水の入ったバケツを抱えそこに座り、ボブが押し付けながら、くぎを打つ！両側に２x８をつけ、ビームと固定させる。何インチかの小さなスペースにいくつかの釘で固定されているだけなので、こんなんでいいのかと心配になる。後で余っているハリケーンストラップをつけるか、なんとかしよう。

This afternoon, I went back, and nailed all hungers for 2x6 joists. It is kind a nice working with listening music in the shade alone. Ready to put joists.

午後になって、一人戻り、床を支える２x６ジョイスト用のハンガーと呼ばれる固定用の金属をつけていく。日陰で音楽を聴きながら一人作業というのもなかなか悪くない。ジョイスとをつけていく準備は万端。
