Day 45

It was nice day today. We finally finished gables! Now we have a good team work. It didn't take ling to cut these all studs. Even if this will be one piece, we used three boards for bottom plates. So we scabbed them in one long piece. It was all smooth until we put north angle. After we nailed few studs on north angle, we realize window stud was too short. I know something is going to happen... We took off some nails from the studs that pushing the top plate up. One person checks top plate to be straight, other person push top plate on place, and another person keep stud on a place it needs to be, and nail it! When we measure all studs yesterday, the south end supposed to be a little bit higher than south gable. But in some reason it end up perfect!

今日はついに全部の切妻が終わり、なかなか良い日だった。昨日の西の切妻の続きから始める。チームワークもよく，柱を全部切り終わるのにそんなに時間がかからなかった。一つで作るけれど，下の板は３つに分かれている。まずはその３本をつなげて長い一本にする。北側の傾斜にかかるまで何ともはかどった。北側の傾斜に何本か柱をとめた後，窓の柱がどうも短すぎるように見える。。。絶対何かあると思ってた。またいくつか柱を外しとめ直す。今度は，一人が傾斜がまっすぐになっているかチェック，別の人が傾斜を押し返し，きちんとした位置で足で固定，もう一人は柱がずれないようにしっかりと固定して，くぎを打つ！こんな単純なことなのに三人必要。昨日全部柱を計ったときは少しだけ南の切妻より端が高くなってしまう予定だったのになぜかしらぴったしになった。やたっ！
This side gable is Dick's idea. Initially, we didn't have confidence to do something complicated. When we brought our plan it was simple roof. But in some reason, after we talked to Dick, we thought we can do it. His magical words makes every thing sounds easy. Often after we start we realize woops it wasn't so easy. We already started, can't go back... That's how we accomplished so far.

This Dick's suggested gable makes more room and window for this master bed room. Also it add more interest to front side of the house. Yhar, sure it looks nicer!

この西側の小さめの切妻はディックのアイデア。最初にディックにプランを見てもらいに行ったときはややこしいことができる自信は全くなかったので、何にもないシンプルな屋根にする予定だった。しばらくディックと話していたら、なぜかしらできる気がしてきた。彼の魔法のような言葉は何でもかんでも簡単に聞こえ、作り始めてからそんなに簡単じゃなかったと身にしみる。でもまー始めてしまったし，後戻りできへん。と，こうしてここまで作って来れた。

でもこの切妻はすごく良い案で，寝室の面積を増やし，窓も一つつけることができた。しかも家の正面に動きを出すことができた。う〜ん，なかなか良い家！
