Day 64

Finally my green card application went to the next step. I went to Kansas city USCIS to get my finger print taken in the morning. The person who took my finger print told me that my finger print shows I'm a person working with hand a lot. I told him that we are making house by our self proudly. I think he was impress... Anyway, right now I don't have any scratch or scar in my hand. So it was ok. But, my finger print was not clear from their view. I might need to go there again. But let's not think about it.

グリーンカードの申請をしていたのが、やっとこさ次のステップへと移りました。今朝カンザズシティーにある移民局まで指紋を採られに行ってきました。そこで手を使う仕事をしてるのかと尋ねられ、ちょっと自慢げに、「今家作ってるんですよね」と言ってみた。すごいねと感心していた様子。ま、とにかく、今は手に傷などがなかったので指紋は取ってもらえたけど、指紋がすり減っていて、読み取りにくいと言われた。もしFBIがこの指紋を気にくわなかったら、また出直さないといけないかも。あ〜考えんとこ。

Since we run out of time, we decided to ask professional to do the roof. Actually I think it is better. The roof is pretty steep, we can't walk there. Also day we can work all day is only in weekend. If this world slowest carpenters do this by our self like we planned, it might be impossible to move in before the winter start. The person we asked told us probably they can do it in two days with 3 people. Wow. But it will be next next weekend. Which means we only have one week and few days to get ready for the roof by then...

So today after lunch I worked there alone. Nailed 2x6 block on the rafter where the open area is. This will make this rafter steady. It is pretty simple work, but since I was alone, and it is pretty high for me, it took longer than I thought. I wished if I were a mutant who has 6 hands...

夏休みが終わって時間に切羽詰まっている私たちは、悔しいかなプロに屋根張りを頼むことにした。まあ屋根が急で歩いて作業ができないし、一日中３人が働けるのは土日しかないので、多分その方がいいけど。もし予定通り自分たちでするとなると、恥ずかしながら亀のように遅い私たちでは冬が始まっても屋根ができずに引っ越せないかも。プロは３人集めて２日でする予定らしい。わーお。でも彼らが都合がいいのが次の次の週末。ってことは一週間ちょいで屋根が張れるところまでは完成しておかなければ。

ということで、今日から昼食後一人でも作業を進めることにしてみた。短い２x６を吹き抜け部分の垂木に打ち付け、しっかりと動かないように固定させる。こんな単純な作業なのに、一人というのと高いところということでやたらと時間がかかった。6本手のある特別変異やったらよかったのにと思ってみたりする。
