Day 61

Yesterday we went to buy materials for porch. We were ready to start it today. However, it was rain with thunder and lightning. After the rain stopped we went to the site. It was too muddy to work on the porch. we decided to do other small works. But, when we see our basement, it looks clogged! We spent a while tried plunge, metal pipe cleaner... It didn't work. Maybe the sawdust and dart clogged it... We might need to call somebody. Too bad we haven't use it...

Anyway, we decided to gave up and do other things. We have hurricane strap, and did toe nail. But to make sure, we decided to nail small block to each rafter. And wood block to floor board. Make sure it ties together well, especially after the storm the other day. And we nailed lest of hurricane straps.

昨日ポーチの材料を買いにいってきました。今日から始めるつもりだったけど、、、雷を伴う雨。雨がやんでから始めたものの、地面がベチョベチョでポーチは明日からということに。代わりに細かい作業をすることにした。中に入って、地下室をのぞいてみたら排水溝が詰まって、水がたまってる。。。ラバーカップでガポガポしてみたり、パイプ掃除の長い鋼でつついてみたりしたものの、水は抜けない。誰かに頼まなければならないか。。。悔しい、まだ使ってないに。

ともかく、とりあえず２階に上がって、別の作業をすることになった。垂木はそれぞれ斜めに打ち付けた釘（これがいかにも素人で効いてるか効いてないかわからん）とハリケーンストラップたるもので止めてるものの、先日の嵐の後というのもあり、補強することに。短い木を床板の上の２x６に打ち付け、そこに横向きに垂木を打ち付ける。それと同時に、残りのハリケーンストラップも打ち付けてしまった。
