After lunch yesterday, we puzzles over to find out the right angle and where is the exact place the bird's mouth should be. First thing in the morning, we use it as a pattern and made north side valley beam. Then we tried our result from yesterday. Wow, it looks perfect! Use thread to find out where to attach. Then that corner where both valley beam meet is also the place the ridge beam from west gable should meet. Also it should be level.... When we tried them all......., it looks beautiful! Ah, I haven't had this feeling for a long time. I'm so proud of us. This is the part that worried us the most. After this everything felt not so difficult any more... maybe. We cut shorter rafter to the valley.
昨日の昼食後、頭をひねってひねってなんとか正しい角度と，鳥口カットの位置を出した。今日朝一でしたことは、昨日作った梁をもとに、北側の梁も作る。その後昨日の結果を試してみる。あ〜完璧。北側もひもを使って梁がどこにくるかを見る。その両側の谷がぶつかるところが西の切妻からのびる梁にぶつかるはず。そしてその梁は水平になっているはず。。。。で，試してみると，あ〜美しい！こんなぴったり来た感動はしばらくなかったな〜。ここが一番ネックになっていたところなので，その後の作業が簡単に思えるか。谷にぶつかる短めの垂木を設置して行く。
Now we have so many ladders. It's so hard for me not to walk under the ladder. Well maybe it is ok for me, since I'm Japanese. We don't have that superstition in Japan.
いっぱいはしごがあって、”はしごの下を歩いたら悪運が”という迷信を回避するのに一苦労。ま、日本にはそんな迷信ないし，私は大丈夫か。
