Day 46

After gables, what we started was knee wall. Since our second floor is like an attic, we have 8' walls, angle ceiling short walls. These will be about 6' wall. We use 2x4 for inside walls. We decided to put short 2x pieces like a ladder to the place we need to attach walls instead of making boxes. It makes much easier, and lighter. Compare to making gable, this inside walls are so much easier.

切妻の後は低い内壁に手をつける。この家の２階は屋根裏部屋のようになっているので，８フィートの壁と６フィートくらいの壁と斜めの天井が少し。内壁は少し細い木材を使う。一階でしていたボックスを作る代わりに，短い２xの木材をはしごのように柱の間にいれ、そこに壁をとめることにする。この方法はずっと楽で，軽くできる。切妻と比べるとなんと作業のはかどる。

We will have top plate on these walls. And birds-mouth cutted rafter will sit on this walls.

壁の上に壁と壁をさらにしっかりと固定するトッププレートがつき、鳥口カットをした垂木が座る。

This is a view from south west corner. I think I start seeing a roof shape from here... isn't it?
