Day 66

Josh can join us today, so it was another nice and creative day. First, we scabbed and made one long board as a front board for the porch. South side side board was twisted badly. So after we nailed that side, we tried to force fixing that twist. Seems it worked. Then, Me and Josh went upstairs, finished putting collar ties. Tomorrow, while Josh is here, we want to try over hung. It is much much easier if we have collar tie to stand on. We put small collar ties for west gable. The one on east edge of west gable is double. We nailed main collar ties two of them there. These are mainly for the sheet rock. Now we can see our ceiling across the room. Looks good!

今日はジョッシュも作業ができたので、またまた作業のはかどる良い日だった。まず、一カ所つないで、長い板を作った。これはポーチの一番前の板になる。昨日つけた南側のサイドボードがねじれていたので、まずそっちだけ釘を打ち付け、てこを利用しながらねじりを取り除き、全体を固定させる。うまくいった模様。その後、ジョッシュと私は２階に上がりカラータイの続きをする。明日ジョッシュがいるうちに、軒になる部分を作りたい。高い位置での作業になるので、はしごに上るのではなく、カラータイの上に立って作業ができればずいぶん楽なはず。西の小部屋に小さなカラータイをつける。その一番東のカラータイは２重になっていて、そこにメインの大きなカラータイを２つつける。これは補強のためというよりも、内装のため。天井の感覚がわく。なかなか良い感じ。
While we were working up stairs, Bob was putting joists. He also put wood block on the beam on both side, and nailed them to the side board. It makes them stronger. This is a view from guest room. The porch is in front of guest room. we can see our wedding tree cherry blossom too.

私たちが２階で作業している間、ボブはポーチでの作業。２x６のジョイストを固定していく。また、ビームの両端に短い４x４を打ち付け、それに横板をさらに打ち付け、昨日心配していた部分を補強した。下の写真はゲストルームの窓からの眺め。ポーチが目の前にあり、私たちの結婚式の桜の木も見える。
