Day 62

We started porch from today. First of all, we organized lumbers, and make sure what we have and what we don't have. Order the lumber, and get started. As always, it took so long our brain to start thinking new process. We made some stakes. Marked the porch size, and place for poles. We will have 3 posts under the floor, and 4 on top.

今日からポーチ作り開始。その前に、まずその辺を片付けて、整理することに。何を持ってて、何が足りないか確認した後に、木材を頼んだ。いつも通り初めての作業にかかるので、脳みそがうまく回転しだすのに時間がかかる。いくつか杭を作り、ポーチのサイズと柱のくる位置をマーク。床下の柱３本、床上４本にすることにした。
We dig a hole with post hole digging tool. I had never seen this tool before, but after moved here, we used this several times. It is so simple and restrained work. We have to dig more than 3o". This is about the dart frosting line around here. It is cold here in winter. If this hole is too shallow, every time the ground freezes, it expands, and push up the roof. We dig one and time up. we will continue tomorrow.

穴はこのポストを掘るためだけの道具を使う。ここに来るまで見たこともなかった道具。引っ越してきてからわりとよく使う。なんとも単純で地味な作業。この辺りの冬はかなり寒いので、この辺りの地下凍結線３０インチをこす穴を掘る。この穴が浅すぎると地面が凍結するたびに膨張して、それにあわせて屋根を動かしてしまう。穴を一つ掘ったところで時間切れ。続きはまた明日。
