Dining room to entrance. It's nice to see the depth now. After walls turn to white, we realize how bright it is when it is sunny.

ダイニングルームから玄関。奥行きが見えていい感じ。壁が白くなると光を受けて日のでている間は かなり明るいことがわかる。

Day 140: Sheetrock started!!!!!

It was very exciting day! There were 7, 8 sheetrock guys. They told me they will finish in one day. Really?! As they said this whole house covered very quick. Everybody was constantly moving. I didn't want to disturb them. So I was also moving around looking for the room that nobody working on, and taking photos from very corners. Now I know how mouse trapped in this house feel like. While they are working dining room they invited me to the center. Well, this situation is bit scary. What if they drop this.... Anyway, it was pretty amazing.

They started from second floor ceiling. Everybody have long stool they can use. This heavy sheetrock looks light like plastic board. While I was blinking they finished second floor ceiling, start work on first floor ceiling. And then start working on walls.

待ちに待った興奮の一日！７、８人で来た彼らは一日で終わらせるという。ほんまですか！？見ていると彼らがいったようにどんどんと壁が覆われていく。全員が常に動いている。見たいけど邪魔はしたくないので、誰かが動くたびに私も空いてる場所を探して移動し、部屋の隅から写真を撮る。なんとなくこの家に閉じ込められたネズミの気持ちがわかる気がする。彼らがダイニングの作業を始めたとき、ボスがここで見ときと、真ん中に連れてきてくれた。こうなると、もし彼らがあのでっかい板を落としたらどうなんねんという恐怖でちょっと居心地が悪い。ま、ともかくかなり楽しめました。

まず二階の天井から始め、次は一階の天井、で壁の作業に入る。それぞれが長い踏み台を使って作業をする。この重い石膏板をプラスチックの板のようにひょいひょい扱う。
This is master bedroom looking at study area. And then started this dining area with scaffolding. They don't wast any time.

上の写真は寝室の西の窓に向けてみたところ。主な壁が終わると足場を組みダイニングの作業を始める。全く時間を無駄にしない。
They just pass this heavy sheetrock like a paper. If we were doing this, we would spend whole morning just to think how to carry this sheetrock up. After they cover everything, they use drill to cut along the windows, doors, and electricity boxes. The people who knows what they are doing knows right tools for right place.

彼らはこの思う石膏板を紙を扱うかのように持ち上げる。もしこれを自分たちでしてたなら、どうやって石膏板を上まで持ち上げるか考えるだけで午前中をまるまる無駄にするところ。一枚板で細かいことは気にせずに覆った後、ドリルを使って窓やドア、配線用の箱にそってきる。自分で何やってるかわかってる人たちは状況に合わせた道具の使い方を知っている。
The stool they have is such a useful for lots of places. Each legs can extend, so it can adjust for the situation like this, too. They complete the project by 3:30 in the afternoon. Very impress!

この踏み台はいろいろなところに使える。足が別々に伸ばせるのでこんな階段での作業にもぴったし。午後３：３０には作業が完結していた。感動〜！

Day 139

Today is the day to start sheetrock! But we realized today is just a delivery. Only two guys delivered these all. Good thing we have doors on south side. It was very cold morning. Look at this frost on the roof. Luckily the ground was frozen hard. They had no problem leaving this big truck here. They control the crane from inside. The remote control they had looked like 60's cartoony robot control. I want one. They are waiting inside with a cart, slide sheetrock on the cart, and move it to the place they want. The biggest piece was 16'. When we close the porch roof by ourselves with sheetrock, we got 8'. It was too heavy to work with for us. We cut them to half, and finally it was a good size. They looks so skinny, but very muscle full. They said next place they deliver is all carry in by hand. Wow

今日はいよいよ内装が始まる！と思いきや今日は搬入だけと判明。たった二人でこの家をすべて覆う石膏版を運び込む。私たちの家は南側に一階も二階もドアがあるのでかなり楽をできたよう。屋根の霜を見てもわかるように、かなり寒い朝だったので、地面もガチガチ、クレーン車も問題なく駐車できた。彼らは家の中から昔の漫画のロボットコントローラーみたいなのを使って操縦。ほしい。屋内ではカートを用意して待機。クレーンからスライドさせてカートに乗せ、必要なところまで転がしていく。一番大きいのは１６フィート。以前自分たちでポーチの屋根を閉じたときに使った石膏版は８フィート。私たちには重すぎたので半分に切って使った。彼らはやせているのに、マッチョ。次に配達するところはクレーンが使えないのですべて人力で運ぶそうな。すごい。

これでいつ内装が始まっても大丈夫。

Day 138: last last thing we need to do

This is another thing we need to do before the sheetrock. This copper tube came through basement to second floor heating, from east side outside. Everybody needs to be in position, and make sure this insulation of the tube doesn't peel off when it go through walls. This insulation helps not to get dripping from condensation.

これはもう一つ内装が始まる前にしなければいけないこと。この銅のチューブは東側の外から、地下室を通り、一階、二階のクローゼットの裏まで来てヒーターにつながる。それぞれが持ち場について壁を通る際にこの断熱材が破れないようにサポートする。この断熱材は結露でしずくが落ちるのを防ぐ役割がある。

Day 138

This is the last thing we need to do before the sheetrock starts. Big clean. They will make everything dusty again, so we don't need to sweep the floor much. But we need to move everything on the floor to somewhere. After we empty the rooms, this house feels bigger.

内装が入る前にしなければいけないこと、大掃除！内装のヤスリ作業が始まるとすぐに粉でいっぱいになるので床はちょちょっと大きいものと取る程度掃くだけでよい。とりあえず、床にあるものは道具から木材まですべてをのけなくてはいけない。部屋の中に何もないとすごく広く感じる。
Well, we just moved everything in the basement. Now this basement feels so small.

ま、全部地下室に移動しただけ。かわりに地下室が狭く感じる。
We have bath tub, and toilet in the basement, too.

バスタブや便器も地下室に移動。
Also we got our first appliances. We got old washing machine and dryer from Bob and Marilyn. Also we got a sink!

この家で最初の家具も設置されました！ボブとマリリンにお古の洗濯機と乾燥機をいただきました。大きなシンクも購入。

Day 137

We made return air duct, and triangle wall in the attic today. We used studs and left over OSB. Attach it directly to the studs on the wall.

今日はクローゼットの裏を通る空気の帰り道と屋根裏を閉じる三角の壁を作る。壁を作るときに使った木材と合板の残り物を使う。この箱を壁の柱に直接つけてしまう。
This is the attic wall. This tube will continue to the heater.

これが屋根裏の三角壁。このチューブは暖房機に引っ付く。
Duct work is done. So we were be able to finish insulate everything! In couple of days the sheetrock is going to start!!! I can't wait!

通気管工事はほぼ終わり。二階の天井の残って板部分も全部断熱材で閉じれた！何日か後には待ちに待った内装屋が入る！！！あ〜待ち遠しい！

Day 136

We are almost ready for the sheetrock coming after Thanks giving. Today we helped Rick our heating guy to get ready, too. He was working on duct work for second floor. We have a heater behind of closet in hall way. Return air duct will be in study area go through attic space behind of closet. Warm air will be from ceiling through attic above collar ties. Since it is in cold attic, we needed to insulate the pipes. He used this insulated plastic tube. We took off this inside tube, and just use insulation. It is perfect fit. We don't need this inside tube. However this guys like it so much.

私たちがサンクスギビング開けに始まる内壁作業までにしなければいけないことはほとんど終わった。まだ細かいことはあるけれど。今日は暖房を設置してくれているリックの作業が間に合うようにお手伝い。一階はほぼ終わっているので二階の暖房の設置に重点を置く。二階のエアコン自体は階段上の廊下のクローゼットの裏に設置する。寝室の空気の戻り口は西側の小さなスペースからクローゼットの裏を通って戻る。暖かい空気は垂木の間を通り、カラータイの上を通るパイプから天井にでる。こちらも屋根裏を通るのでパイプを断熱材で覆わないといけない。彼が用意したのがこのビニールのチューブを覆う断熱材。中身のチューブを抜き取り、屋根裏に設置するチューブにかぶせる。これがまたぴったし。ビニールのチューブは必要ないので捨ててしまうところに、いつも通りストップをかける。今はこの子らのお気に入り。
They stay in the tube like 2, 3 hours. Now we have a lots of this left. I can use when I do dust work too. Or we can make our house like a movie "Brazil".

毎日ゆうに２、３時間はこのなかに詰まって二人で遊んでる。このチューブは削ったりしてたくさん粉がでるときに使えるし、映画ブラジルごっこをするにも使える。
